Obituary of Elsie Gilbert

ELSIE GILBERT Loving Wife, Mother and Grandmother BLOOMFIELD: Elsie Gilbert, 90, passed away peacefully at the Ontario County Health Facility on Thursday, Feb. 9, 2012. Mrs. Gilbert was born on Aug. 29, 1921 in DeLand, FL to the late Benjamin and Irene Moore. She was a graduate of Canandaigua Academy (1939) and a graduate of Millard Fillmore Hospital School of Nursing (1944). She had been a registered nurse and school nurse teacher at Bloomfield Central School. Elsie was a member of the East Bloomfield United Methodist Church, Senior Citizens, Ontario County Retired Teachers Association, Bloomfield Fortnightly Club and Gorham Rebekah Lodge #220. She was the second recipient of the Marion Hallock Award and was Ontario County Senior Citizen of the Year in 1992. She is survived by her husband of 65 years, George; their children Susan (Gary) Marvin, Cheshire and Steven (Kathy) Gilbert, Avon, four granddaughters, four great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her daughter Karen in 1973 and her sister Bettie Arnold. There will be no prior calling hours. A celebration of Elsie's life will begin at the East Bloomfield United Methodist Church, 2 Park Place, Bloomfield at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 25. Burial will be in East Bloomfield Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family has suggested that memorial contributions be directed to either the East Bloomfield United Methodist Church, POB 6, East Bloomfield NY 14443 or to the East Bloomfield Public Library, 9 Church St., Bloomfield, NY, 14469.
