I was so sorry to hear of Steve's passing. I enjoyed working with him as the director of probation and observed his character in leading the community service team. He was always affable and quick with his views and history which made him perfect in his job. We talked about him becoming a probation officer but he was right at home in the job he knew so well.
he was a class act.

Thank-you family and friends of Chuck Sherry. The service at St. Mary's Church was greatly appreciated. We all needed to hear the assurances from Father Murphy that Stephen W. Sherry was O.K.; that his soul would be in good hands. We all needed to hear of the Chuck we remember so well from his siblings and to share laughter with them. We all needed to hear dear Diana's words as read by Chuck's brother Paul and to see the compassion and support the families are giving her. We all needed to share hugs to remind ourselves that death is a part of life - and that for the moment - we are still here on this earth.
Personally - During Chuck's next chapter, I am hoping that Chuck's soul guides about one million other (or more) people on this earth to be just like him: always relaxed, laid back, smiling, kind, and engaged in laughter and wit - with whomever he talked.
He shall be missed, but not forgotten.

Leslie, you are so kind and your words comforting as each day is still one of missing my Stephen. I feel his spirit continues to be nearby. And, yes his family has faithfully been together with me as we seek to honor the place he has in our lives. Thank you, Leslie....

I went to school with Steve from St. Mary's and High school.
I'm so sorry to learn of your loss. He was a great kid and hadn't changed when I saw him at the '92 class reunion. Good people don't change. They only get better.

To Sherry family,
My most frequent contact with "Chuck" was in the Friday night golf league at Victor Hills. Truly one of the most pleasant gentlemen I have known---and he occasionally made a good shot.
Very sorry for your loss.

I did not know Mr. Sherry on a personal level, I got to know him through the community service program. He was easy to work with, and a joy to speak to when telephone conversations were necessary. I am sad he and his family only got 3 months of retirement. God Bless all of you in this sad time.

Deepest sympathy to the Sherry family and to the loss of one of our Park Ave. neighbors. Steve was just a little boy of about 3 when we moved here in 1957. We count the Sherrys and their family as one of our special neighbors whose children grew up with ours. So, it is a special loss for us, too. May special memories and love of family and friends help bring you comfort. Sincerely, Lois

It's so unbelievably sad for all those left behind, particularly the family, but if there's any joy at all that can be taken from this is that Chuck led the type of life we should all strive for. He absolutely enjoyed life and went through it in a mood that was happy for him and also for anyone who came in contact with him. I remember the time a few years ago when Chuck, always a MAJOR baseball fan, came to LA to attend the world baseball championship. We were able to get together and have a meal at a real old time sandwich place, that he LOVED, before we went to the game. The one thing I particularly remember is how, after being in town for maybe 3 days up to that point, he had completely mastered the transit system along with several great short cuts for getting in and out of Dodger Stadium. I (a 30 year resident of LA) was definitely following him around! All the best on your new adventures, Chuck!

Steve, or Chuck, as he allowed me to call him on many occasions, was a wonderful fellow to me and everyone he worked with at Ontario County.
I am 16 years with Ontario County in Information Services and it was my joy to interact with Steve regularly throughout those years. Unlike many other employees of the County, Steve was known as being Computer Literate - meaning that he had a good understanding of the technology that he used to do his job, the computers and devices and the programming that was necessary to make his office work to the best of its efficiency. I knew that if Steve had a question or problem it would be a challenge because he had already done all of the preliminary checking and testing of the obvious, and not so obvious, and still had an enigma on his hands. Working with him to resolve the computer questions he uncovered was as exciting and challenging as my job could get and I looked forward to his insight and his convivial spirit as we toiled to achieve a solution that would improve his work and the work of his department.
I remember a deep satisfaction when we would find a good resolution to these challenges. Steve never failed to thank me for my help. He appreciated my efforts to assist him. That appreciation went a long way with me. Early on, Steve was amazed at one or two of the solutions that I was able to provide him and he took to calling me 'Q' after the Scientist in the James Bond films who would always make such unique gadgetry and develop many clever solutions. I understood that 'nick-name' to be a part of his fun loving nature, but I also knew that it was his way of showing respect for my skills, that he truly appreciated the efforts I made when working with him. That 'nick-name' was his way of drawing me closer as a friend, not just another co-worker.
I offer my condolences to Steve's family and friends in this time of sorrow and sudden and unexpected loss. Please be consoled by my belief that we are all to be with Steve again in the next life. May Almighty God bless you all.
