Don remained active and independent in his later years. He enjoyed walking outdoors and kayaking just days before his death. He passed away peacefully with his sons by his side on July 10, 2018.

Don was predeceased by Katherine Dimmitt of Elmhurst, Illinois, who he married in 1953, and Emily Skellet Bauer of Hopewell, New York who he married in 1995. He is survived by his

sons Donald (Diane) of Canandaigua New York and Paul (Joan) of Shelburne Falls, Massachusetts, and step-son Rick Bauer (Marcia Rajca) of Hopewell, and three grandchildren.
