Obituary of Kirby E. Green

Kirby E. Green

Hopewell- Kirby Emory Green age 70, passed away, peacefully, at his home after a courageous battle with ALS (Lou Gehrig’s disease) on October 28, 2018. 

Kirby is survived by his wife of 40 years, Mary and 4 children, Laurel (Patrick), Justin (Bridgett), Darrell (Stephanie) Matthew (Bethany), his mother Gladys Green, brothers, Jeffrey (Kathy), Craig (Vicki) and Randy (Patty), brothers and sisters-in-law Paul (Marci) Rayburn, James (Darlene) Rayburn, Martha Powers, Floyd Rayburn, Pamela (Terry) Bauer and Mark Rayburn and 8 beautiful grandchildren.  

Kirby was predeceased by his father Emory Green, his father and mother-in-law Floyd “Dutch” and Dolores Rayburn and sister-in-law Sheila Rayburn Kriesel.

Kirby spent 33 years at Bloomfield School District teaching Health/Physical Education and coaching many boys and girls athletic teams.  In 1981 he coached and led the Bloomfield Varsity Boys Soccer team to the Finger Lakes Section V Regional and New York State Class C Championship. In 2009 he was inducted into the Bloomfield Sports Hall of Fame. 

Kirby served his community as an active member of the Canandaigua Elks Lodge 1844 and a non-member volunteer of Rotary Club of Canandaigua. Kirby enjoyed his hobbies which included farming, hunting and playing golf.

Friends may call Thursday, November 1, from 3-7pm at Fuller Funeral Home, Inc. 190 Buffalo St. Canandaigua. A 10 am memorial service will be held Friday, November 2, at St. Bridget’s Church, 15 Church St. Bloomfield.

In lieu of flowers donations in memory of Kirby may be made to the Bloomfield Soccer Boosters Club in care of Deb Robinson, Bloomfield Central School, 45 Maple Avenue, Suite A, Bloomfield, New York 14469.
