Gary DelDuca

Obituary of Gary Robert DelDuca

Gary Robert DelDuca, loving husband and father, passed from this life at Thompson Hospital, Canandaigua, NY, on October 15, 2020. A longtime resident of Canandaigua, Gary was born on January 26, 1957 in Rochester, New York to Andrew and Louise (Gumina) DelDuca. He attended Rochester Institute of Technology in Henrietta where he earned a Degree in Engineering in 1980. While at RIT he met his loving wife, Eileen Quinn DelDuca, whom he married on October 4, 1985. Gary worked for Pactiv (formerly Mobil and then Tenneco) for 37 years and retired as a Senior Engineer and Technical Sales Manager. At the time of his retirement he was listed as lead or named inventor on over 21 patents developed during his work career. He retired in 2017. Gary considered family the most important driving force in his life. He enjoyed spending time with his loving wife and children, his siblings and everyone who was fortunate to be welcomed into his circle of friends. He worked with his Eagle Scout son on Ontario Pathways building projects, including eight bridges, and watching his daughter play numerous games of soccer. A modern day Renaissance man, Gary had a passion for a variety of pursuits. He explored the world traveling, especially throughout Italy. He was an accomplished woodworker, boathouse builder, classic car restorer, Chris-Craft lover, home improvement expert, dog lover, Italian language student, and restorer of Victorian homes, in which is family resides. He was also the neighborhood avenger, battling both squirrels and bats. Gary's unique, frequently dry, sense of humor, regard for fair play, stellar work ethic, support and care for those he held dear made him a valued human being and a man people were proud to call father, husband and friend. He was warm, caring and genuine. He was helpful to all who sought his advice or extensive expertise. He will be sorely missed. Gary was preceded in death by his mother Louise and is survived by his father Andrew (Helen) DelDuca. He is survived by his wife Eileen, his two children Catherine (Will) and Michael, his brother Robert (Laura), and sisters Sharon (Stanley) and Andrea (Thomas) as well as many nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, October 21st, 2020 at St. Mary's Church at 11 o'clock a.m. Mask wearing and social distancing will be observed. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations to Ontario Pathways, sent to P.O. Box 996, Canandaigua, NY 14424, or The American Cancer Society at https://donate3.cancer.org/ .
