Brian Hammond

Obituary of Brian M. Hammond

Brian Hammond of Canandaigua passed away suddenly on June 5th, 2021 at FF Thompson Hospital. Brian is survived by his wife of 49 years, Nancy George Hammond. Brian served in the US Army as a Military Intelligence Officer Cantonese Interpreter before meeting Nancy and starting their life together. Both Brian and Nancy were born and raised in the Rochester area. Brian always loved the mountains and desert of Albuquerque New Mexico so they decided to move there back in the 70's. They returned to New York and have lived in Canandaigua since 2019. Before his retirement, Brian had a long career in Commercial Insurance. Brian had a quick wit and great sense of humor. He enjoyed trying various types of beer and a good cigar. He was one of Wegmans best customers. Many of us would kid him that if we didn't know where he was, he was probably at Wegmans. Brian liked to walk. He walked about 5 miles a day, almost every day. One of his favorite walking spots was along Seneca Lake. Brian had a love of vehicles and watching racing. Over the years, Brian and sometimes Nancy too, would travel to various race tracks across the country. He would say "there is nothing like being there". He especially liked Watkins Glen. In addition to his loving wife, Nancy, Brian is survived by Brother-In-Law Conrad George (Sandy) of Georgia, Sisters-In-Law Kathy Hammond, Charlotte, NC, Marie (George) Scott of Henrietta, NY, Judy (George) Schirnglone (Daniel David) of Canandaigua, NY, Eleanor (George) Hernandez (Jose') of Farmington, NY and Rita (George) Simmons (Tim) of Webster, NY. Brian is also survived by many Nieces, Nephews, Great Nephews, Great Nieces, Cousins and many friends. He will be truly missed by all. A 3pm memorial service will be held Friday, June 11, at Fuller Funeral Home, Inc. 190 Buffalo St. Canandaigua. A contribution in Brian's memory may be made to: Lollypop Farm, Humane Society of Greater Rochester, 99 Victor Rd, Fairport, NY 14450.
