Jodi and family,
Thanks Bob. Thanks for your passion for skiing both water and snow. You helped teach me to ski and you gave me some great pointers as we moved through many skiing skills. Our friendly competitions, your example and encouragement, were what kept me going as I got older and considered quitting to do something easier. It’s one reason I continue to ski today. Your lessons and example helped me on snow as well. Here, I’m sure your contribution to the skills and success of many students at Bristol and elsewhere would concur. Your passion for boating helped fuel mine also. Many long discussions about the value of one boat as compared to another. The two M’s, Merc and Mastercraft, right? Another passion of yours, cars of course. You started with British, Triumphs, but quickly moved to the Germans, BMW of course. I was Fiat and later Audi. Consumed a lot of beers “discussing” the attributes of each of them. Supporting friends was also a passion. I received a particularly bad piece of news at one point. Bob came right over through the woods on a Saturday afternoon, as soon as he heard to commiserate and support. I will always remember. Bob’s passion, energy, and shananagins have made him and will keep him a legend on White Lake. Fondly by most, not so much by a few. But isn’t that the way with legends? I attached a couple pictures from a birthday celebration at the hospital not long ago. This is how I choose to remember him. With a big ear to ear smile, infectious laugh and surrounded by friends, even in the midst of his titanic struggle with his horrible disease. Always “ can’t wait to get back to camp”, “we’ll have lots of fun then and I’ll take you skiing.” Stopped to see him on my way south about a month ago. Talked about the fun we had and crazy experiences over the years. He smiled a bit as best he could. He said quietly, “don’t worry we’ll have more “ . As some poet said, “Don’t go quietly into that dark night, rage against the dying of the light.” Hope that I’ll have his fight when I reach that point as we all must. I hope that wherever you are Bob there is waist deep powder, Master Craft tow boats and black glass water. Rest In Peace my good friend.

Dear Jody and Family,
Lynn and I are so saddened to hear about Bob's passing.
I always enjoyed his company and skiing with him.
Though I had only run into him at Wegman's the past 10 years or so, it was always a pleasure to see him for our brief "how's the family" talks,
Take care,
Mike and Lynn Brazee

There are so many stories that come to mind tell about Bob but I’ll have to keep it short. I first met Bob and Jody when I stared dating Kelly. It was November and Bob and gotten tickets to Warran Miller Snow skiing film. I remember thinking this guy is serious about skiing. Then the following summer I went to spend a week on White Lake for the first time. We go to the Thomas camp. That’s when I realized water skiing was just as intense for this guy. Meanwhile I’m super concerned if my hair and make-up would survive the boat ride when Kelly drove the boat for Bob’s ski run. There were only certain times that were good for ski runs. We entered the “back bay” the conditions were perfect and Bob had a good run. Once back on the dock I was schooled about the “glass like” water. I remember his description of the perfect conditions….. I will think of the back bay as “BOB THOMAS BAY”.
Bob loved to play hard and live life to its fullest. He will be missed and remembered he was a good friend to many including Kelly and me.
